I remember as a boy, watching Butty picking up beer barrels and putting them down the cellar of the nelson pub.

My father Jim Kennelly from Listowel told me the story of Butty pulling a bus with his teeth

My father who dies in the 70's often talked to me of Butty Sugrue as a way of trying to get me to drink Goat's Milk. He said that was the secret of his ability to pull buses using only his teeth. Good luck with your research

My father Frank Tallon introduced me to Butty in the Lady of Lourdes church club in Acton West London in about 1966.
I recall Butty had one of his barmen buried alive in the Shepherds Bush pub as a publicity stunt

Hi, My father told me about Butty Sugrue. My father wrote for the Reg Park Journal opf Physical Culture in the early 1950s: somewhere among his belongings is a photo he purchased from the Daily Mirror about 1953, showing Butty performing a feat of strength. I think the picture was originally purchased with the idea of publishing, but i don't think it came about.

I went to school with Butty's son Richard .we were mates and I spent alot of time in Butty's pub on the corner of Percy rd Kilburn . I often watched Butty weight lifting and practicing his old circus tricks ( bending steel bars between his top and bottom teeth . and lifting full barrels of beer one in each hand , plus countless other feats of strength . ) Down stairs in the pub I met numerous celebrities who came to see Butty' . ie Bert Asserati , Billy Walker , Jack Doyle , Mick and Paddy Casey and many more . They were the good old days . !
